Rockstar Energy Drink Ingredients

When we buy a can of Rockstar energy drink we don’t usually give much thinking to what we will actually consume, as not many of us pay attention to what is written on the label. Well, we know something about caffeine as it gives us energy, but what are other Rockstar energy drink ingredients? Are they safe for consuming? Do they influence our health in any way? Today we will try to answer these questions.

To start with let’s have a better look at caffeine and sugar as the main ingredients. An average 8 ounce can of Rockstar, except sugar-free versions, contains 31 grams of sugar and 140 calories. If we also add here 80 milligrams of caffeine we can understand that this beverage isn’t good for people who suffer from hypertension, diabetes, heart diseases or obesity. Plus we should be careful not to consume too much caffeine and sugar as it can lead to health problems.

The next mysterious ingredients are ginseng, an herb that is believed to help reduce stress and fatigue, and ginkgo biloba, an herb that is supposed to improve memory. Both herbs are considered to be safe, though some people may have allergic reactions to them. Besides, ginseng shouldn’t be used by those suffering from diabetes, heart disease or blood clotting problems. Though these ingredients promise much, Rockstar, just as many other energy drinks, doesn’t contain them enough to witness significant benefits of adverse effects.

Guarana, one more popular thing to be found in the beverage, is a South American herb that is known for its stimulatory, caffeine-like effects. So, drinking a can of Rockstar with guarana we consume more caffeine than expect. High doses of guarana can cause rather serious side effects and when taken with aspirin or other blood thinning medications it can increase the risk of bleeding. Moreover, people suffering from heart disease, hypertension, or diabetes should better not consume this herb.

Milk thistle, also found in Rockstar, is both an antioxidant and a liver detoxifier. It is believed to reduce hangover by helping the liver break down the alcohol more quickly, though no serious research has yet proved it.

These are the main Rockstar energy drink ingredients and you can see now that if you don’t have some definite health problems and consume the drink wisely it is not likely to do you any harm.
